Johnny didn't have any classes till Thursday which meant he could totally take advantage of his free time.

So, sitting behind the cheap set of drums he purchased, he was banging away, actually sounding pretty good. And when he really got into it, he lit the drumsticks Reed made for him, on fire, and wasn't that so freaking awesome! Chad would be proud of his progress, Johnny thought.

The door was wide open.

[So is the post!]

From across the hallway, a very heavy and large book came awkwardly sailing from the door of 218 through the door of 217, landing with a dull thud well short of Adah's intention to hopefully, maybe, through some chance of fate and switch in the wind, thwack the drummer (assumed to be the Modern Prometheus) in the head and get him to stop with all that racket. Honestly, he wasn't even that good. She had more books ready in case the first one went unnoticed and the noise did not desist, but, knowing full well that she couldn't throw to save her life, there was a bright yellow Post-It note on the book to communicate her unspoken message:

"The true genius shudders at incompleteness - and usually prefers silence to saying something which is not everything it should be. --eap."

The book actually just thunked to the floor in front of his drumset. Pausing for a moment in what he termed an awesome performance, he read the Post-It note and smirked.

The he started playing again. The song he was playing (one totally made up in his head) was near to completetion. Just... not... yet.

Adah released a relieved sigh on the other side of the hallway as the playing halted; the moment of silence that filled its space was blissful, and she closed her eyes to enjoy it...

...only to have it start up again, much to her disgruntled dismay. She grunted slightly, pulling another large book over, with the pad of Post-Its and a pen, scribbling down another declaration that he shut the hell up with that drumming.

Her throw was a little better this time, as if the first one had warmed her up, but this book was a bit smaller, perhaps that helped.

If this didn't work, she considered throwing the rabbit next. And she certainly hoped she could get her books back.

"Silence is the perfectest herald of joy. --the bard"

That second book smacked him upside the head. "God dammit!" he muttered, the drums ceasing their fantastical firey beating. Rubbing his head, Johnny reached down and grabbed the book, reading the note.

Snorting, he tossed it on his bed and began to play Stairway to Heaven.

Take that Adah. You'll have to ask nicely.

Adah was completely oblivious to the fact that her throw might have actually made some physical contact. As far as she was concerned, she had a terrible arm and the statistical chance (which she actually had worked out) that she would actually hit the Prometheus were slim to none. She waited a moment as another silence permeated the air, sweet, but, she had a feeling, most likely brief.

Sure enough, her suspicions were confirmed and another song started up. She reached again her for Post-Its, and tossed away another book, the only things she had with enough heft to actually get anywhere.

"In some African tribes, as is well known, drums are used to commutate messages over long distances. But sometimes, the drums are meant to communicate something deeper, something more visceral. They drive down into the very consciousness, often inspiring a sort of psychosis, driving an individual or a group to moments of temporary insanity, usually expressed in violently unrestrained massacres and bloodshed. --dr. trb, ph.d."

Well, thing was, Johnny was practically sitting in front of the open door. It was the best place for his drumset, right there in the middle of the floor. Hoozah!

Bang bang beat beat bang bang bang... rat tat tat TAT! Beat bang tap tap tap, went his sticks upon his drums. Johnny was awesome.

But another damn book slowed his progress once more and he stopped, stood up, tossed his drumsticks to the floor and grabbed up all of her books, barely scanning over the last note, quote, whatthehellever 'cause he didn't get it anyway, and made his way across the hall.

"What the hell, Adah? What. The. Hell?"

Adah, still sitting where she'd been at the center of the room, on the floor with her bad leg tucked underneath her at an angle that would probably cause anyone else an incredible amount of pain, glanced up from where she had been contritely and placidly petting Pride's head. Pride didn't look happy, if only because he knew those pets were plotting pets. She looked innocently up at the Modern Prometheus and tried her damnedest not to smile for the fact that he did have the common decency to bring her books.

Now if only he'd have the common decency to be more considerate of the other people on his floor.

"You could have at least," she said quietly, "closed the door."

Johnny hadn't thought about closing the door so he gave Adah a very meaningful D'uh expression.

"...and your first Post-It note couldn't have said that very thing?" He barely glanced at her bunny, thinking Destiny would love to have a chance to chase it. He also took a split second to wonder how in the hell Adah could sit like that. But girls and their flexibility...

...or their utter and complete lack of feeling in sensation in certain limbs. Adah's smile grew a little, dropping some of its false innocence, and she shrug a shoulder. She supposed it could have, yes, but there was no enjoyment in that, and, hey, the Modern Prometheus should feel enlightened to have two (or three depending on your perspective) random pieces of general wisdom just thrown at him today. Not everyone could consider themselves so enlightened.

Eh, yeah, like Johnny remembered a word of what he'd read. Even worse, or better, considering who you asked, understood it.

He did get that smile of hers and figured she did nothing more than amuse herself at his expense. He shook his finger at her, lighting the tips just to amuse himself. "Funny girl. Ha ha. Your books," he said, stepping in and setting them down on the floor beside her. "I imgaine those words within won't mean much if their burnt to a crisp."

Throwing them into the Prometheous' room to begin with ran the risk of them not being returned, and she wasn't so stupid that she'd throw any books she actually really liked, so the threat was mostly empty. What she'd had, she'd already read, and what she'd already read, she'd mostly maintained, and it just gave her an excuse to buy more to fill in the gaps on the shelf that their parched spines would create. Less to pack in a couple of months, anyway, so she just idly shrugged her good shoulder again, and put most of her attention back on her rabbit.

So long as he closed the door, she would close hers as well, the sound would be muted, and she'd had gotten what she'd wanted out of him and it could be let alone.

"Hmmph," he muttered and saunted off back across the hall to his own room where he promptly sat back down behind his drumset.

Staring at his open door, he grinned and beat on his drums for five seconds before he laughed and tossed a ball at it, knocking it closed.

Savannah was in a very cheerful mod when she came in from her karaoke class. She might even be humming.

"HI BABE!" he shouted above his banging.

Savannah stopped singing and giggled as Destiny ran at her and tried to climb up her. She sat down on the bed and watched Johnny.

He would have been sorry that he couldn't hear her singing. Hopefully she will sing for him later. Maybe they could hit up Caritas and she'd sing for him there.

His drumsticks were flaming. "COOL HUH?! REED MADE THEM FOR ME!"

She'd sing for him anytime he wanted her to.

She grinned and nodded, hoping he could see that she was happy about his enjoyment.

Johnny banged away, making up his own song as he went along. He was actually pretty good, but he could be a lot better. Seriously.

After a moment he settled down and extinguished the flames. "What's up babe?"

She grinned. "Having fun, love?"

"Oh, yeah," his grin was wide. "This is so awesome! I hope to get really good one day and play.. I don't know, in a bar or something."

"I have no doubt that you will." She believed it.

"Got a sec? I want to ask you something."

She smiled at him. "I have a favor... and I've been thinking about it for a little while."

Even before she went dark and self-destructive.
