Cygnus living room, pretty much all day

Johnny was lazy and had been all day long. No classes, no work, meant he and the TV were getting along great. It also meant that he really didn't have to get dressed. Gym shorts was all he sported, that and the can of soda he held in his right hand. He was watching a motocross marathon on ESPN and he was totally zoned out to anything else going on around him. 

Summer camp was totally awesome.

"It's not that I think I can't handle it," Chad grunted, shoulders squaring. "It's just that you and me aren't exactly the smallest guys, Johnny, and I'm a hell of a lot bigger than, say, Savannah."

Johnny shifted, looked over at Chad and gave him a slow, thoughtful once-over as though he'd never really considered just how big he was. He knew, of course, just needed reminding. "Uh. We'd break my bike."

"Exactly," Chad said, nodding with grave and immense wisdom once it came around to Johnny. "And that's why I don't really like those bikes."

"Riding alone you can handle; anytime you want to use by bike, go for it," he offered as he looked back at the TV. "What's been up with you lately anyway? You still working at that music store?"

"Yup," Chad nodded. "Just got promoted actually. Trained in the new girl today. Alice. She's in this cabin with us, and has a cat."

"Yeah? What's your position?" he asked. "Alice... hmm, haven't met her or her cat yet."

"Manager," Chad said with a slight shrug. It wasn't fancy or anything, no, but it was cool. "And she's nice. Both of them are. And very British."

"Hey, that's pretty cool," Johnny said. "Awesome. I'll keep an eye out, make sure I meet her, and her cat."

Chad nodded. "Anything new with you?"

"Nah, not so much. Doing the same old stuff. Work, now classes, which is not to say that I'm bored," he said, proving that by his slouched position on the couch, motocross on the tube.

"I should take Savannah out here soon, explore some of Greece."

Chad grunted a little as he nodded. "You should. I've never been to Europe before, so I should probably explore, too..."

"I'm afraid I'll have to tag along for a bunch of shopping," he admitted with a wry grin.

Oooh.

Chad straightened slightly; he hadn't even thought about shopping.

"Aw, that wouldn't be so bad," he said congenially.

Johnny arched a brow. "Dude, girly shopping." Because that was important to point out.

Chad read fashion magazines, here. And understood them.

Of course, though, he felt no reservations in grunting and just saying, "Good thing there's plenty of liquor around, then, right?"

"Totally," he agreed, though he knew Savannah might not go for it if he was to tag along in... Oooooh, wait a minute. There were those lingerie shops. "I guess, you know, I don't mind too much. If she's persistant."

"It's a necessary evil," Chad bobbed his head in agreement. "But not too bad."

"Right, especially if something good comes out of it," he replied.

"Besides becoming manager, what else have you been up to?"

"That's about it..."

It had been nagging at the back of his brain, something he wanted to mention, but didn't, because he didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but if Johnny was asking...

Chad picked a little at the corner of the arm of the chair. "Ted left for the summer..."

Chad has his full attention then. "Ah, man, that sucks... "

"Yeah," Chad grunted. He really didn't want to sound bothered by it, though. "But he'll be back. He just had to go spend time with his sister in space."

"Space is totally cool," he said, having been there himself. "And he's coming back, so... you okay?"

"Oh, yeah. Totally."

He wasn't. He so wasn't.

Which made Chad extremely glad for the fact that he never had any problem at all hiding his emotions. It was all the same on his stoic skin.

"Jus' a few months, y'know?"

"Pfft, they'll pass before anyone knows it. Especially with work, and classes, and... watching TV," which wasn't exactly productive, but it did waste time.

"Might start up a new band," Chad threw out there, as well. Especially since, maybe, if he talked about it enough, he might actually do it.
