Cygnus living room, pretty much all day

Johnny was lazy and had been all day long. No classes, no work, meant he and the TV were getting along great. It also meant that he really didn't have to get dressed. Gym shorts was all he sported, that and the can of soda he held in his right hand. He was watching a motocross marathon on ESPN and he was totally zoned out to anything else going on around him. 

Summer camp was totally awesome.

"Yeah." Chad's rumble almost sounded wistful. "I know. You haven't happened to notice any musically inclined newbies yet, have you?"

Preferably cute girl ones. You really couldn't beat the hot factor that Teal Dear had, and, if he got cute girls, maybe Teddy'd think twice about disappearing for three months next time.

"Nah. I met a couple but music didn't pop into the conversation. I haven't even met my little bro yet because his mun's having comp trouble, which I hope to remedy here soon."

Johnny paused, took a long swallow from his can. "Come to think of it, I don't know any oldies who are musically inclined either."

"Yeah, I know," Chad's shoulders sunk a little. "Even my fallback drummer just got out of town to play with her old band...."

Johnny had an idea. "Drums hard to play?"

Chad thought for a long moment.

"I don't know; I never tried 'em."

"Uh," he said oh so thoughtfully. "Probably be hard to learn."

"What?" Chad snorted. "You thinkin' of trying it?"

"Noooo," he said, not after hearing that snort, man. "Just sayin' is all."

"Have you ever tried it before?"

What, every kid has dreams of playing in a rock band don't they? "No."

"Maybe you should, then," Chad pointed out. "Could discover a hidden talent. I know we got equipment at the store, if you wanna swing by on my shift Friday..."

"I... could, I guess. You know, just check it out," he said with a bit more interest than his body language implied.

"What's the worst that could happen?" Chad offered. Usually, he'd know better than to say something like that, but, seriously? It was banging on some drums. What was the worst that could happen?

Noise was noise, right? Some just actually made sense. "I'll be by Friday," he nodded, determined.
