Savannah and Johnny did the whole spending time with each other's families for Christmas. A day each. And it was enough. The rest of their break would be spent with each other, basking in the sun, snorkeling, fishing (Johnny would like to try, hush), and you know, doing what they did best.

Currently they were waist deep in the most gorgeous water ever, and Johnny was enjoying himself by splashing his girlfriend. It was what boyfriends did, right? Especially since she was wearing next to nothing. She deserved to be flirted with.

"No worries," he kissed her chin, her nose, her forehead. "I took care of him," he teased, as he began walking with her towards the white sandy beach. "Told him you were mine."

She smiled, leaning up to kiss him.

"Definitely all yours."

On the beach were two lounge chairs with large, shady umbrellas over each. Between them sat a small, wooden table where a bowl of fresh fruit was sitting, along with two large glasses of iced, tropical punch. Johnny carefully set her down, kissing her deeply before he moved to sit in the other chair.

"I could stay here forever," he commented, taking his towel and rubbing it over his face.

Savannah took a drink from one of the glasses before she relaxed back with a contented sigh.

"I would love to live here." She closed her eyes. "The first time I make a big commission on a painting, I'm going to buy myself a private island like this."

Savannah sometimes had big dreams that she knew weren't realistic at all. It's why she called them dreams.

He looked over at her, loving her. "I will buy us our own." Because yes, he was thinking they would be together, forever.

He had high hopes, at least.

Savannah rolled over to look at him.

"Our own private getaway?"

She thought the same thing.

Johnny nodded. "Our very own."

He hated he was leaving her after this next semester.

Sadness flickered in Savannah's eyes as she tried not to think of the separation coming up and she hoped it was gone before he could see it.

"It would be nice to have a place of our own to run to."

No, he saw it, and he looked away, out over the expanse of ocean. He wondered how things would go for them during their seperation. It would suck. That's all he knew.

"I'll work on it," he told her, quietly.

Savannah watched him for a long moment and then rolled back onto her back to look at the water.

"You don't need to buy us an island, love. I know I'm too much of a dreamer sometimes."

Yes, it would suck, but she had faith in them and how they were together.

"I want to," he said. "I want us to have a place together, you know? Something that's just ours. I'll do it too." He was nothing if not determined. "After I graduate, you can go there whenever you want. I can be there anytime, sweetheart."

She turned to him and smiled softly. "I can't deny that the thought really sounds nice and something that would be really good for us."

He looked at her. "If you plan on us staying together, yeah."

She stared at him for a moment and then nodded at him.

"I do plan on it... want it, actually." Her voice was soft as she looked at him.

"I want you sure, Savannah," he told her.

"I don't want to keep you from anything you might enjoy here at school after I leave." But hell, he wasn't thinking about gremlin bites, or girlkissy parties, or her just being plain lonely and seeking someone to ease that for her.

She looked at him very seriously and he would be able to see how she felt and would see the truth in her eyes.

"I am sure, Johnny," she said firmly. "You're my heart."

He nodded. He believed her.

He just didn't trust other people as easily.

"Drink your punch, sweetheart. And if you've had too much sun, tell me. We'll head inside..."

Any person except Johnny tried to touch her and they'd end up thrown through a wall -- if they were lucky.

She lay her hand against his cheek. "You're the only one I love."

"I know that, baby," he said, capturing her hand. "It's the other dicks out there that I don't trust."

"The other dicks aren't fireproof," she smiled. "Any one tries to touch what's yours and they'll become flambe."

"See that they do," he chuckled, kissing her hand.

She grinned. "Of course I will. Your girl."

Plucking a cubed piece of mango from the bowl, he leaned over, grinning, pressing the piece of fruit against her lips.

Savannah sucked the fruit from his fingers, her eyes full of laughter.

Chuckling, he allowed his gaze to rake over her. "Best. Christmas. Ever."
