Rm 217, Tues, early evening

Having just come from the shower, Johnny was still damp. Whipping his towel off his hips, he toweled his hair a bit before he slung it to the floor. He wasn't a very neat roommate. He decided it would have to be Savannah's fault for wanting him in here. 

So he was naked and trying to find some clean jeans. "Where the hell are my boxers?" He might not have gotten to unpacking everything and his crap was everywhere. He had a few shirts hanging up in the closet but... "Where the hell are my boxers?"

Modesty? Johnny didn't have any.

(door and post are wide open.)

"I uh dunno. Except that usually boys kissing boys is a spectacle around here. With lots of glitter." Okay. Beauty was smart. She might be smarter than him. He felt funny. Johnny grabbed his pillow and shoved it over his manly package. "Were you staring at my junk?" There, ah-ha! Answer that miss smarty pants!

"Glitter?"

Then Beauty gave Johnny a look that said she thought not only was he strange, but he might also be crazy. "Well, you're the one parading it around and asking people to touch you," she pointed out.

"Because I'm hot! Seriously! Here, I'll prove it," Johnny said and held his hand up, lighting it up.

Fourth time today has got to be a charm.

Okay, first little talking metal things that people used for communicating with each other, and now a boy was catching himself on fire.

....

"Oh my God! Are you all right? I'll...I'll fetch some water!"

When Beauty finally found out that Johnny was playing her, she was going to SO let him have it.

And not in a good way.

The bathroom was all the way at the end of the hall, so instead of going for water, Beauty grabbed a omg modded! blanket off Johnny's bed and threw it over his arm, to smother the flames.

...which didn't smother. "Get back! You'll hurt yourself!" Yeah, he sort of let the flames take over his whole body.

It was horrifying. Beauty stumbled backward and pressed her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming.

"I'll get help!" she exclaimed. "Just...oh God, I'll be back, I promise! I'll get help!"

Oh no. He scared the crap out of her. Johnny extinguished the flames instantly.

"Hey! Hey Beauty, no look, I'm okay. It's just this thing I can do..." yeah, he managed to look ashamed of himself.

Beauty had kind of stumbled against the door jamb as she was backing out of the room, which slowed her enough for Johnny's words to catch her before she took off in search of help. At first she didn't quite comprehend what he was saying, but when she realized that the fire was gone, and that he wasn't harmed...

"Oh my God," she whispered. "You're an enchanter."

"A...a sorcerer. Someone who casts enchantments on people. Like a witch. Only, you know, witches are women."

She wasn't sure what to think. He seemed nice, in an odd sort of way. But the tales that Ger had told her, about the enchantments on the forest, not to mention that she now associated enchanters with the mysterious Beast in the castle...

"Um, no, Beauty. I'm not a sorcerer. I manipulate fire; genetically it's all me. I'm sorry I frightened you."

Beauty had no idea was 'genetically' meant. But manipulating fire sounded like magic to her.

He was apologizing though, and he really did look as though he hadn't meant to scare her. Although how anyone could not be scared at something like that... Then again, she was the one who had been on her way to become a Beast's prisoner.

"It's...it's all right. I didn't understand, I've never seen anyone do anything like that before. And magic makes me a little bit nervous. Stupid, I know."

"No, not stupid. I'm the idiot for scaring you. But Beauty, this isn't magic, honest. It's my body. It's in my body, who I am. I can't help it."

"Nobody can just set themselves on fire," Beauty insisted. "Unless you're a demon. But I don't think I believe in demons."

Naomi's warning about people from other places, and what Dr Wilson had said about super strength and speed, came to mind. So after a moment, she added, "It doesn't hurt?"

"I'm not a demon, trust me. And yes they can. Didn't I just prove that to you, or would you like me to light up again?"

He grinned. "Nope, it doesn't hurt. It's just a part of me."

"No! No, that's all right." Beauty held her hands up in a warding gesture. "One demonstration was quite enough, thank you."

She was going to have to think very seriously on this, and on the things Wyatt had told her in class. "I...think I should let you return to searching for your clothes."

Still smiling, Johnny nodded. "All right, Beauty."

"Maybe another time," Beauty suggested. She really wasn't sure she needed to see a guy set himself completely on fire right now. The arm had been scary enough.

"It was, um...nice to meet you though," she added, as she turned and fled for her room.
