The Causeway - Sunday evening

As much as he wasn't looking forward to this day, it was here, and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it. It was time to go.

His stuff had been packed up and sent ahead save for the few things he'd left for Savannah. A few shirts, a hoodie; small incidentals that she'd wanted to keep with her. He'd said his goodbye to Destiny, and rather quietly did he and Savannah make their way to the causeway.

Everything that needed to be said, had already been said. It was the goodbye that was going to hurt like hell.

"Hinata," he said low, his smile warm. "I'm glad to see you made it."

"I w-wouldn't have stand away," she protested, looking up at him. "I couldn't."

God, she was freaking adorable and Johnny felt a lump swell in his throat. "I'm grateful," he remarked, hardly trusting his voice to say much more.

He opened his arms. "Can I have a hug?"

Her smile was sad as she stepped up to hug him. "Of c-course you can."

Johnny hugged her tight. "I'm going to miss you, sweetheart."

Hinata closed her eyes. "I'll m-miss you as well," she said quietly.

"If you ever have need of me, for anything, don't hesitate to call. I'll do whatever I can to help. And if you ever feel like visiting New York circa 2005, look me up?"

"I will," she promised, looking up at him. "If you e-ever want to talk, please call me as well."

"Count on it, sweetheart," he said, smiling down at her. "Take care of yourself. I don't want to have to come back here and kick your little booty," he teased.

She laughed softly. "You w-wouldn't."

He chuckled and quirked a brow. "I wouldn't?"

"Because you w-would never believe I had done something to deserve it," Hinata said innocently.

This time he laughed. "You know me pretty damn well."

She looked pleased with herself for that. "I will miss you," Hinata added.

"I know it," he said, still smiling. "But I'll visit when I can, and call just to pester you. No sense in life being boring, right?"

"I c-can't imagine life being boring when you're around," she said honestly. "You will take care, won't you?"

Aw, that was seriously sweet of her. "I will. I've got too many people hanging around me for it to be otherwise. Don't worry, sweetheart. That's my job."

"You s-shouldn't worry either," she insisted. "I will look after S-Savannah."

The muscle in his jaw tightened as he fought emotions over that one. Hinata was so awesome and she was loyal; attributes he found exceedingly impressive.

"Thank you," he replied low. "That means a lot to me."

She gave him a sweet smile. "And that's w-why I'll do it," Hinata said gently. Because he mattered to her. "Take care, and write."

She had nothing else to say.

Johnny nodded, his eyes on her face. "You too, Hinata. Take care, sweetheart."

There was nothing else to say. Prolonging goodbyes just wasn't cool.
