Rm 217, Late Sunday night

Johnny came back to his room exhausted. Exhausted from handwavily fighting, and exhausted from trying to search for Savannah. After their argument things just went downhill for him and he wondered about their relationship. He'd probably been an ass but she was damn stubborn.

Peeling off his shirt, he grabbed a beer and sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching over to pet Destiny. 

He supposed Savannah would get back when she got back. And he would sit there and try not to worry.

Savannah turned to look at him and her hair moved back to reveal the bruise forming on her face.

"I don't need the clinic. I... you didn't say that... but you made me feel that." She swallowed. "I fought Hades." Her voice shook as she realized what she had done. "I... Underworld..."

Johnny discared his beer and was at her side instantly, taking her carefully and pulling her in against the strength and warmth of his body. "Savannah, I'm... god, I'm sorry for making you feel that way. It wasn't my intention." Somehow he couldn't apologize for tying her up or wanting to keep her safe. He couldn't do it.

She bit back a gasp when her shoulder came in contact with him, but she clutched at his short with one hand. "I had to... " She was shaking. "I tried to fight a god!"

He stared down at her, not liking the fact that she was shaking, yet he was furious all over again for her stubborness. "Yeah? And it looks like he kicked your ass."

Oh that was so not what he should have said. She stiffened.

"I went and I saved Isabel and Lana," she said quietly. "I did something to help people."

And maybe he was a little pissed about that because he felt like he did nothing. Fire did nothing against these ghosts, these demons.

"I'm glad. Really. I'm glad you did. But did you have to go up against Hades to do it?"

"I didn't plan on it, Johnny. It just happened and when he said that I should run back to my boyfriend and he laughed at me."

"You apparently didn't listen to him."

"Would you have," she demanded.

"Answer me, Savannah."

Savannah was near tears. "No. I didn't listen to him. He was evil and telling me what I had to do... making me feel like I was useless."

He shook his head. "You could have turned and fucking ran. You were in hell! God, do you know how much I worried today? How I searched and searched for you? Do you know what that feels like? You turned your back on me to fight something that you could never beat."

She pulled away from him.

"You turned your back on me in Caritas and walked away, remember, Johnny? You wanted me to go and hide from everything that was happening -- something that you would never have allowed anyone to make you hide and let your friends suffer."

"So! Look at you? You're a shaking, injured mess. I have every right to feel the way I do, considering."

Man, he was frustrated and so damn tired.

"I walked away because if I stayed, I would have tossed you over my shoulder and dragged you back here. Would you have liked that, Savannah? Would you have fought me? Yes, you know damn good and well you would have, so it was better for me to just walk away."

"What the hell do you expect me to do? I don't hide from trouble and danger, Johnny -- and neither do you! Would you like it if I demanded that you stay and hide in our room when there was fighting and danger?! Would you have listened to me if I said I would come back to our room and hide if you came with me?!" She shook her head. "No, you wouldn't have. You would have told me that nothing could harm you and you would have done the same damn thing."

"I'm a man!"

'Cause yes, dammit, that made sense.

She was exhausted and in pain and the last thing she had wanted was to fight with Johnny.

"And I'm a woman! A woman that can fight and doesn't let people see she's scared. I help take care of people who need it because that is what I do!"

"I get that, Savannah, I totally get that. But the worry it causes me is so hard to swallow, you know?"

"It's not exactly easy for me, either, Johnny. You don't think I get scared as hell when you're out fighting things and I don't know what's going on?"

"Yeah, but that's different. Nothing's ever happened to me."

"That's what they always say before they get taken away or die," she mumbled.

Johnny ran a hand back through his hair. "You've never lost me, not even for a little while." Because he considered when she was taken by the statues, it was she that left him.

Savannah had a good idea about what he was thinking about.

"You're never going to forgive me for that, are you?"

However, if she knew he thought of that as her leaving him...

He looked down. "I have forgiven you. I forgave you a long time ago. It's just that... it's hard to forget, you know? That terrible emptiness, the feeling useless to do anything, the wondering if you were ever going to come back to me." He paused, considered his words. "I know who you are and I know what you can do. It's in your nature to protect and help, just as it is mine. But damn if I can't help the way I feel."
