Rm 217, Thursday night

When Savannah walked into their room, she would find a cute little surprise lounging on the bed. Johnny had searched all day long for a puppy he thought she would like. There were tons, literally, and he had the hardest time choosing.

He finally decided on one that looked rather lonely, a little sad, and bought her immediately. Then he went shopping for a doggie bed (though he imagined the pup would sleep with them), toys, food, blankets... everything he thought a puppy would need.

Now he just sat back, flipping through a magazine, and waited for her to walk in.

[Johnny is here for Savannah, but the door is very much open.]

He cocked his head. "Oh?" Yeah, why was there always more with Savannah? Johnny should have known.

Because he loved her and knew her pretty damn well?

She let out a breath. "Papa Benecio is going to start sending me stuff right away. I'm not supposed to start unless I'm sure I'll be safe... but the first package will probably arrive Monday."

Yeah, that was it in a nutshell.

Johnny inhaled deeply and let the air out slowly, craning his neck to free the tension as his bones cracked. "And how are you going to ensure your safety, Savannah?"

Savannah looked at him. "Well, Sean and Eve are going to be there... and I was kind of wanting to ask you to either be there... or what you might suggest. I don't want to do this and make you feel like I'm leaving you on the outside with no say in any of this..."

Because, honestly, if he really was dead set against it... she'd try not to do it...

Johnny didn't know how to feel about this. Most likely he would have to take time to consider everything she's said. He knew too, there was probably more she hasn't said yet.

He looked away from her. "Better for you to have those close who actually know what they're doing. I... wouldn't want to interfere."

Oh.

"I want you there," she said quietly, before looking away and focusing on something else so she didn't let her tears that were threatening -- had been threatening -- out. "But if you would rather not be there, I... I understand..."

"What would I do if I was there? Sean... Eve... they know this stuff. Not me. I would feel like the fourth wheel, ready and waiting to do what? Flame up if something goes wrong? Tell me what you would want me to do, Savannah, and I'll do it... but yeah, I'm kind of an outsider in all of this aren't I?"

She didn't look at him. "You're not an outsider and if I tell you why I want you there" need you there "... you're going to talk about brakes again and I'm going to think that you feel smothered ..." She shook her head. "Never mind," she said dully. "I'll tell Papa Benecio that I changed my mind."

"Fuck, Savannah!" he stood again, angry now. "Stop with all this nevermind shit, alright? It's starting to piss me off. You and I both know you won't give this up so don't say you will. It's something you have to do, I get it, but let me cope as I can cope, alright?"

Savannah didn't look at him, but the puppy barked when she hugged her too tightly and she loosened her arms, wrapping an arm around Johnny's pillow instead.

"You think this is easy for me, Johnny? You think I want to do all of this? You think I want to piss you off, piss off the teachers, worry Eve and Sean? You think I have any idea how I'm supposed to tell the guy I love that I need him to be there because if I lose control of my emotions and my powers he's probably the only one that can stop me?! You think I wanted this? You think I don't sometimes wish I was just a normal girl like most of my friends?"

She stood up, ducking her head because she was trying not to let the tears fall. "I don't know how to cope or what to do with all of this and I'm sorry that I dumped all of this on you. And yeah, there's a chance that I wouldn't this if I thought it would cause too much trouble between me and everyone else here! I don't want you to feel like an outsider and I don't know what to do!"

Destiny jumped off the bed and went to dance around Savannah's legs, pawing at her.

"If it was easy for you I seriously doubt we would be having this conversation. I know that and I understand it. You want me there, I will be there."

He took steps towards her so he was standing in front of her, looking down a her bent head, unmindful of the puppy that danced around them. "But don't think for one single minute that I won't pick your ass up and haul you back here do you do something that hurts you. Got me? Because so help me, the first time that happens... you'll be back in this room so fast your head will spin!"

She finally looked at him and there were tears sliding down her cheeks. "Promise," she said softly. She looked scared and worried and it wasn't a good look on her.

The tears moved him like nothing could and he drew her into his arms, preeing her in tight against his chest. He hated seeing that look on her face and knowing he caused it made him feel like the biggest of pricks.

The problem was that he hadn't been the one that put it there and if she knew he thought that, she'd be upset.

"I'm a little scared, Johnny," she finally said, holding onto him. "I don't want to lose myself... and I don't want to be on the other side of that wall again. You know, the wall that keeps you apart from everyone around you because you're so different than everyone else and so powerful that nobody knows how to act around you, so they leave you alone..."

[preeing? yeah I don't know.. *giggles at self*]

"You won't be left alone he said," his tone firm, determined. "I won't let that happen." As far as loosing herself, Johnny only hoped he was strong enough to keep that from happening.

Savannah nodded against him. "I love you, you know that, right?"

"I do, I love you too... never forget it," he said and pulled back to bend further and kiss her mouth hard.

Savannah made a soft sound and tightened her arms around him, letting the feelings from his kiss move through her.
