He took off then, jogging easily back to their beach hut and grabbed her Christmas gift he had hidden in a black box, in his bag. Opening it, he stared down at it, and knew he wanted to give it to her... wanted to ask her to be with him forever...
But it was just a promise for now, of what he could give her later. And he was worried she might not accept it. She was young and had a year and half left of school.
Taking a deep breath, he snapped it closed and jogged back to the loung chairs, to where she was waiting for him. Looking at her, at her confused face, he knelt in the sand and palm up, showed her the small black box. "For you. If you'll accept it."
